About the Community Manager:
The Community Manager is extremely reliable and highly independent, a “people person” and Jack/Jane/Jo of all trades. We know you can’t do everything, but you’re excited to learn on the go. The CM has an authentic interest in meeting the diverse needs of the community and in the purpose of TVW: creating a welcoming, healthy, supportive and beautiful work environment. The Community Manager works collaboratively with other CMs and reports to the Director of Operations.
Where/When:
This position is based in central JP (Boston) and Brookline Village. The schedule is in-person Monday to Friday 8:30AM to approximately 5:30PM. We will consider a schedule of 3 to 5 weekdays per your request, plus occasional scheduled event coverage evenings or weekends (optional).
Job Tasks:
1. Creating and Growing TVW Community
- Creating community culture by acting as a friendly, welcoming first point of contact for members, prospective members, visitors, and neighbors
- Managing day-to-day member and visitor needs (customer service) and fostering a warm and positive community environment
- Managing sales process for memberships, including tours, documentation in CRM system, and follow-ups
- Creatively planning and hosting community programming
2. Stewarding TVW’s Work Environment
- Managing our beautiful community Café, including hospitality services, light maintenance cleaning throughout the day, and maintaining inventory
- Reliably completing opening/closing procedures
- Managing day-to-day facilities and building issues as they arise
- Offering basic on-demand tech and audio-visual support (assisting members and visitors with tele-meeting setup, helping troubleshoot internet and printing access, etc.) Note: CM will be trained on the specific systems but needs a baseline comfort level with technology.
- Performing core building tasks that require climbing stairs and lifting small equipment as the sole staff member in the building at times
3. Supporting Our Small Business
- Arriving on time and reliably keeping an in-person schedule
- Working independently to handle administrative tasks in a timely manner, including member billing and record-keeping
- Managing relationships with service providers
- Staffing periodic event rentals as coordinator and facilities manager (overtime pay may apply)
- Additional duties as assigned, in support of the day-to-day business functions and the Director of Operations
About You:
- Energetic, outgoing personality and authentic interest in people and their jobs
- Trustworthy and reliable to manage building safety and administrative tasks independently
- Culturally competent to communicate effectively and with kindness to neighbors and clients of different backgrounds
- Self-starting, able to handle a fast-paced workday independently
- Capable with conflict-management, able to keep the work culture positive and welcoming in a community with diverse backgrounds and needs
- Effective and professional communication, both written and verbal
- Comfortable with computers (Mac, Windows, Chromebook), basic technical and audio-visual setup and troubleshooting
- Growth attitude about improving and expanding skills over time
Helpful Qualifications:
- 2+ years work experience in relevant field. We value different backgrounds, including (but not limited to) hospitality, customer service, sales, and community leadership.
- Interest in community-building, local neighborhoods, creative entrepreneurship
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree (not required)
- Professional or personal experience communicating effectively in a broad range of settings
Compensation:
Compensation is commensurate experience, starting at $48,000-$58,000/year base salary plus available bonuses. Competitive benefits include company sponsored health insurance, paid holidays and vacation time, and tuition benefit.
