Community and Events Manager – Part Time

The Village Works is a neighborhood coworking space in Brookline Village offering shared workspace, offices, meeting space, events and programming that support our members’ work-life matrix. TVW seeks a part-time Space and Events Manager.

The schedule will be set by mutual arrangement with 10-25 hours per week including:
– 1-3 fixed shifts during business hours and
– 2-5 off-hours shifts per month (nights and/or weekends), based on upcoming scheduled events.
More hours per week may be available in 2018.

The Space and Events Manager is a member-facing position, an integral part of the operations team, coordinating closely with staff but working independently during shifts. The operations team handles day-to-day operations of the coworking space throughout the building and actively supports the community culture through member engagement. TVW also hosts public, private and member events. The Space and Events Manager will be on-site point person for scheduled events. We are looking for an independent problem-solver with excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Our ideal candidate is friendly, professional, tech-savvy, excellent at both customer service and conflict management.

About the Job Tasks: 

-Connecting with new members, offering tours of The Village Works and signing up memberships
-Managing day-to-day member needs and ensuring a productive and positive experience for members
-Serving as first point of contact to orient drop-ins, guests, visitors and new members
-Fielding membership inquiries in person, by phone and by email
-Serving as on-duty operations point person, handling urgent and day-to-day facilities issues as they arise throughout the building
-Some administrative tasks, including member relations, record-keeping, processing payments
-Some technical and audio-visual support, including assisting members and visitors with tele-meeting setup, helping troubleshoot internet and printing access, and addressing internet outages
-Performing hosting duties, including serving snacks, making coffee, light cleaning and building maintenance
-Coordinating and hosting events, including setup and break-down, representing The Village Works at public events and addressing building issues as they arise
-Additional duties in support of the essential day-to-day functioning of the business
-Some core building maintenance tasks require accessing the top level of the building by stairs and lifting 25 pounds.

About You: 

-Superlative verbal communication skills, able to communicate effectively with diverse members and neighbors and make a great impression of our community
-Friendly and Professional conflict-management, able to keep the work culture positive and pleasant while managing member needs and concerns
-Strong written communication and attention to detail for emails and record-keeping
-Self-starting, enthusiastic, reliable employee who can handle day-to-day situations independently
-Time-management skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritize in a fast-paced work environment
-Comfort with computers (Mac, Windows, Chromebook), basic technical and audio-visual setup and troubleshooting
-Energetic, outgoing personality with positive attitude and interest in people and their jobs
-Has and maintains cell phone and can be reachable by phone, text and email during shifts
-Flexibility with schedule to include scheduled shifts during business hours as well as nights and weekends

Extra Qualifications (not required): 

-2+ years work experience in hospitality, sales, marketing or human resources-related field
-Interest in coworking or entrepreneurship
-Bachelor’s degree

Compensation: 

This is a part-time hourly paid position. The salary is commensurate with entry-level experience. Additional perks include personal membership, access to member discounts, friends and family discount, and work policies that support quality of life. There is a possibility for growth and more work time within TVW in the future.
